Hilary
(Rye Mattick, pictured centre) once protested at Greenham Common. Nowadays, her
protests tend to focus on persuading her chippy, contemptuous teenage daughter
to fully clothe herself when she goes out with invariably unsuitable boyfriends.

A
marriage in ruins and a career on the rocks only add to the perils of life for
a middle-aged mum in Walthamstow. She’s questioning her life choices and
mourning her lost youth. Where did it all go wrong?

This
frank and very funny family drama questions parental anxieties and explores the
life, the worries, the strength, and the vulnerability of the post-feminist
urban woman.

At
once deliciously rude and piercingly moving, Jumpy will make any parent with a teenager in the family laugh with
recognition, wince with horror, and maybe even cry a little too.

The
laughs keep on coming in this comedy of mid-life crisis, which movingly
captures the inequality of love between parents and their children, and there
is no mistaking the emotional truth of the writing.

VOTE
FOR US
The People’s Theatre
Redevelopment Scheme has been shortlisted in a national competition. Now we
are appealing for votes from the public to help us win £150,000
towards the redevelopment from building merchants Jewson.
The
People’s Theatre is the only theatre shortlisted alongside 12 other schemes
across the country. The volunteer run theatre stands to benefit from
£150,000 towards its redevelopment.
For
the People’s Theatre Tony Childs said:
“We
are proud to be the only theatre in the country to have made it as one
of 12 projects in the national shortlist, competing against 1,800 other
projects.
We’ve
had a great voting response from our audience and membership.
What we now need is for the wider community to show support for what will
be a great asset to Newcastle
and the North East.
Jewson’s
prize money will help us to build a truly accessible community venue, with a
new studio theatre.
Please vote using the
following link: https://www.buildingbettercommunities.co.uk/submission/peoples-theatre-redevelopment-project/ .”
The
Building Better Communities Competition is organised by Jewson Ltd
with support from St Gobain. The People’s Theatre is in the shortlist for
the ‘My Comfort’ project and if successful will walk away with £150,000.
Regional winners will receive support of between £500 and £10,000.
