Family favourite ‘Annie’ The Musical comes to Tyne Theatre &
Opera House in 2017!
‘Annie’ The
Musical
Newcastle Tyne
Theatre & Opera House
Thursday 1st – Saturday 3rd June 2017
The world’s
favourite family musical, Annie,
will be staged at Tyne Theatre & Opera House by Astravaganza Entertainment in June 2017.
Set in 1930s New York during The Great
Depression, brave young Annie is forced to live a life of misery and torment at
Miss Hannigan’s orphanage. Determined to find her real parents, her luck
changes when she is chosen to spend Christmas at the residence of famous
billionaire, Oliver Warbucks. Spiteful Miss Hannigan has other ideas and
hatches a plan to spoil Annie’s search…
Based upon the popular
Harold Gray comic strip Little Orphan Annie, with music by Charles Strouse,
lyrics by Martin Charnin and the book by Thomas Meehan, the original Broadway
production of Annie opened in 1977.
Spawning numerous productions in many
countries as well as national tours, Annie has become a firm musical favourite
across the world.
With its award-winning
book and score, this fantastic production includes the unforgettable
songs Hard Knock Life, Easy
Street, I Don’t Need Anything But You and Tomorrow. You can bet your
bottom dollar that you’ll love it!
Annie is the perfect
musical for the whole family to enjoy, loved by young and old alike! Annie
follows Enchanted Entertainment’s Easter
Panto production of another universal favourite, The Wizard of Oz, which comes to the Tyne Theatre & Opera House
stage on Saturday 15th and Sunday 15th
April 2017.
Theatre Director Joanne
Johnson says: “I’m thrilled that
Astravaganza Entertainment will be bringing their production of ‘Annie’ The
Musical to Tyne Theatre & Opera House, as it’s such a well-loved classic.
It’s wonderful to be able to present a show for the whole family to enjoy, no
matter what age. Annie, along with Enchanted Entertainment’s The Wizard of Oz
offers some fantastic opportunities for family trips to the theatre.”
