New Fairy
Gets Her Wish Granted
Jack and
the Beanstalk
South
Shields Customs House
Tuesday 29th November
2016 to Saturday 7th January
2017
The
roles have been reversed as a north east panto has granted a wish to its new
fairy.
Eleanor Chaganis |
The
Customs House in South Shields launched its Find the Fairy search to discover a
new star for its annual pantomime. London-based actress Eleanor Chaganis will
be casting a spell over pantoland after winning the role in the theatre’s show,
Jack and the Beanstalk.
The 24-year-old Guildford School of Acting graduate, originally from South Shields, is looking forward to being part of ‘The Little Panto with the Big Heart’. She said: “I can’t wait to play the fairy in The Customs House panto. It’s my first big panto role and I’m delighted to be in my hometown.”
Eleanor is no stranger to The Customs House stage having played Maggie in last year’s smash hit Geordie the Musical (Geordie Musical Review LINK) and the venue’s under seven’s Christmas favourite Santa’s Naughty Elf.
Ray Spencer MBE |
Auditions took place back in May but the panel
were so impressed with the calibre they held call backs before choosing Eleanor
for the role. Ray added: “We’ve held
open auditions before and have cast Rosie Ramsey, who now presents on Capital Radio,
and West End
actress Jamie Birkett who is currently in Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens in London.
I’m sure Eleanor will also go on to do great things.”
