The Customs House in South Shields are launching a brand new competition to unearth the best third age talents the region has to offer.

Silver Stars is looking for anyone aged 50+ who thinks they have got what it takes to be crowned our Silver Stars Champion. The competition is open to all talents: singers, dancers, poets, actors, jugglers, magicians, comedians or anyone who thinks they have got what it takes to wow our judges and audience on the night.

Contestants can perform solo, duos or as part of a group, the only rule is every member must be aged 50+.

Customs House Executive director Ray Spencer said: "We have unearthed some fantastic young talent in South Tyneside but I know we have some unsung heroes out there from the older generation.
"Now is the opportunity to get on stage and prove what they're worth. Get your applications in now!”

"I also know it's going to be a fantastic night for the audience so come along and cheer for your Silver Star."

The Silver Stars Talent Competition will take place on Friday July 8th at 7pm and contestants must be available to perform on that date.
Our Silver Stars champion will not only take home the glory of being our first ever Silver Stars champion but will also win £500 to be donated to a charity of their choice.

Confirmed judges for the evening will include Margaret Fleck, Hilda Joyce & Doris Ashcroft of the original Dolly Mixtures. A new musical of their life, by Tom Kelly & John Miles, is currently in production by The Customs House and will be staged from 24th August – Saturday 3rd September.

Anyone wishing to take part in Silver Stars can do so by contacting Stephen@customshouse.co.uk for an application form or by calling (0191) 427 3741
