The Royal Geographical Society with IBG presents Professor Iain Stewart
Darlington Civic Theatre
Monday March 16

Iain Stewart is Professor of Geoscience Communication at the University of Plymouth and has presented a number of science programmes for the BBC.

Professor Iain Stewart
One sixth of the modern global economy depends on hydrocarbon fuels. Without them the planet would grind to a halt. No single resource has ever changed so overwhelmingly the course of mankind’s and earth’s history.

Iain looks back at the social and political consequences of society’s gradual addiction to fossil fuels and considers whether we can ever end our dependence.
