Liz Pichon & The Tom Gates Brilliant Bands and Doodle Live Tour (Friday 27th October 2017)
What the Ladybird Heard (Friday 8th – Sunday 10th June
2018)
Newcastle Tyne Theatre & Opera House
Tyne Theatre &
Opera House are thrilled to add two fantastic new family shows to their
programme!
Hugely popular
author and illustrator, Liz Pichon,
is best known for her award-winning series Tom
Gates, and she brings her Tom Gates
Brilliant Bands and Doodle Live Tour to the stage on Friday 27th
October. Colourful farmyard adventure What
the Ladybird Heard will be at Tyne Theatre & Opera House from Friday 8th
– Sunday 10th
June 2018.
Featuring two
crafty robbers, one tiny ladybird, and a whole farmyard of fun, What the Ladybird Heard sees Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len hatch a
cunning plan to steal the farmer's fine prize cow. But they reckon without the
tiniest, quietest creature of all: The Ladybird has a plan of her own!
Join Liz Pichon as she presents Tom Gates Brilliant Bands and Doodle Live Tour, a hugely fun-packed & interactive monster drawing event with live music! Bring a pencil and paper, learn to doodle just like Tom and hear DUDE3 Tom's favourite band in the whole wide world play some excellent tunes. There's stories and music and a chance to meet Liz and the band after the show.
Liz’s
bestselling Tom Gates series was first published in 2011 with The Brilliant World of
Tom Gates, which won the Roald Dahl Funny Prize; Red House
Children’s Book Award ‘Best Book for Young Readers’; and Waterstones Children's
Book Prize ‘Best Fiction for 5-12-year-olds’. Her fourth book, Tom Gates: Genius Ideas
(mostly), won the Blue Peter Book Award and
was shortlisted for the Specsavers National Book Awards’ Children’s Book of the
Year. Most recently, Liz collected Specsavers Bestseller Awards for five of her
Tom Gates titles.
Liz was the official World Book Day illustrator in 2017 and Tom Gates: Best Book Day
Ever! (so far) was the bestselling title of World Book Day 2013.
Over 3.1 million Tom Gates copies have sold in the UK and the series
has been optioned for TV.
Tyne Theatre & Opera House Director Joanne Johnson says: “I’m thrilled that we can add two more wonderful family shows to our programme, we like to cater for all ages! We also welcome the delightful adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s Stick Man to the stage this October (one of my personal favourites!) alongside The Hunting of the Snark, a brand new adaptation inspired by Lewis Carroll’s classic poem. Then of course we have pantomime to look forward to in December, with Enchanted Entertainment presenting Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs. I hope to see lots of families having a fantastic time at Tyne Theatre & Opera House!”
