Dreamboats
And Miniskirts
Darlington Civic Theatre
Mon
15 to Sat 20 September
Dreamboats
and Miniskirts will be presented at Darlington Civic Theatre for just one week from 15th
September as part of a major national tour. The show follows the enormous
success of Dreamboats and Petticoats and sister show, Save The Last Dance For Me.
Written by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, it is 1963 and the world is
changing Bobby (Alex Beaumont) and Laura’s (played by local girl
Elizabeth Carter) single Dreamboats and Petticoats has not taken off.
Norman and Sue have settled down to non-marital bliss – and a baby! But Ray (David Luke) and
Donna (Anna Campkin) seem blissfully happy….
The
advent of the Beatles and the Merseyside sound is inspirational. But
will it inspire Bobby and Laura to have one more shot at stardom – Norman to
“get off the drains” and find that singing voice he has longed for, and Ray to
realise his ambition and manage a really top pop act!?
All
will be revealed in a follow up with the same, wit, charm, and great songs as Dreamboats
and Petticoats. Many of the songs are from the next period in pop history,
such as A Picture of You, Don’t ever Change, Do you Love me, Handy Man, It’s
in His Kiss, Go Now, When will I be loved, Hippy Hippy Shake!
