The Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) presents Dr Jago Cooper - The Lost Kingdoms of Central America at Central Hall, Dolphin Centre, Darlington on Monday 25 April

Dr Jago Cooper is Head of the Americas Section at the British Museum. Arising from his recent BBC series on the lost kingdoms of Central America, Jago considers what lessons we can learn from these great civilisations of the past. How did cities rise and fall in the tropical forests of Costa Rica? Why did people willingly give up their lives for rulers in the highlands of Mexico? And what is the real secret to gaining and holding onto power in any society?

Recent research in Central America has begun to reveal the secrets behind how these little known societies operated and how we can all learn from their fate.

Join Jago to find out more on this journey through history.
