An intriguing and challenging reworking of Shakespeare's great war play

1916. The country is at war. With winter coming on and sickness growing upon our soldiers, one man can lead the country to victory. This intriguing and challenging reworking of Shakespeare's great play about war brings Cranked Anvil's 2016 Shakespeare season to a rousing and satisfying conclusion.

Cranked Anvil produces theatre, film, radio, and other events, as well as collaborating with other artistic companies and professional practitioners, to create and develop cultural and artistic work in the North East and beyond.

The company was formed in September 2012, as a means of pursuing artistic and creative endeavours and basing them very much in the region. Cranked Anvil is a vibrant, creative and far-reaching company, producing all kinds of work which tours venues and showcases in theatre and film festivals around the country.

The North East Theatre Guide found that the previous 2 Shakepeare shows have been very engaging and very much in the spirit of the author. You can review our reviews of Romeo & Juliet REVIEW LINK here and Hamlet REVIEW LINK here.
