Audition Search for Theatre Royal Stars

Wizard of Oz
Newcastle’s Theatre Royal
Tuesday 25nd – Saturday 29th July 2017

Newcastle Musical Theatre Company are hosting open auditions this January for a chance to star in their 2017 summer production of Wizard of Oz at Newcastle’s Theatre Royal.

And they aren’t just looking to cast Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion but will also host auditions to find more than 25 munchkins for the ambitious musical.

Following on from this year’s hit performance of West Side Story, Newcastle Musical Theatre will be taking the show, famous for songs ‘Follow The Yellow Brick Road’ and ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’, to the city centre theatre next July.

The show is bound to be another popular choice, with tickets already selling fast, and there’s even more to look forward to in 2018, with NMTC’s confirmation that they will be staging Andrew Lloyd Webber’s world-famous CATS.

Looking to attract strong performers with fantastic acting, singing and dance skills, principal auditions for the roles of Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion are open to everyone and will take place Sunday 8 Jan 2017.

For those interested in ‘smaller’ role, Munchkin auditions will take place Saturday 7 Jan 2017 and are open to anyone who is both 4ft 6ins and under at the time of audition and aged eight or above by the 22 July 2017.

The audition sessions will take place at Royal Grammar School Theatre, Newcastle from 9.30am. Anyone wishing to audition should email nmtc@live.co.uk for further details of the day and what they are required to prepare for the audition.
