Coming Up At Newcastle’s
People’s Theatre

Tuesday 1 – Saturday 5 November 2016
7.30pm
Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett
£13.50 (Conc. £11)

Two weatherbeaten down-and-outs linger by a solitary tree, hoping to meet the elusive and mysterious Mr Godot. At once emotive, contemplative, and humorous, Beckett’s masterpiece wittily explores our angst-ridden insecurities on the absurdity and meaninglessness of life. Will Godot show up? There’s only one way to find out …

Tuesday 15 – Saturday 19 November 2016
7.30pm
The Lady in the Van by Alan Bennett
£13.50 (Conc. £11)

When Alan Bennett allowed an elderly homeless lady to park her camper van on his driveway, he little imagined she’d stay there for 15 years. We are proud to present this bittersweet epitaph to the enigmatic and cantankerous Miss Shepherd. A heart-warming exploration of human kindness, liberal guilt, and a writer’s eternal fascination with the quirkier side of life.

Saturday 10 – Sunday 18 December 2016
PANTO! Jack and the Beanstalk by Philip Meeks

1pm – Sun 11
2pm – Sat 10 / Sat 17 / Sun 18
6pm – Sun 11

Concession £11.50 / Child £11.50
Family Ticket – save £4 when booking for a party of 2 adults & 2 children or 1 adult & 3 children)

Typical. You send your son to the shops and he comes back with magic beans! Our Panto explodes onto the stage in a fun-packed, all-singing, all-dancing spectacular. We’ve got a wisecracking dame, her cheeky, chirpy lad Jack, and a whole host of friends to take you on a thrilling trip up the beanstalk! But watch out – there’s a giant about!

Tuesday 17 – Saturday 21 January 2017
7.30pm
The Unexpected Guest by Agatha Christie
£13.50 (Conc. £11)

A young man’s car breaks down one foggy night near a remote country house. Seeking help, he finds his way into the study via the French windows, only to discover the murdered body of its owner. Clues, motives, suspects and red herrings abound. Can you solve the mystery? A classic whodunit from the masterly pen of Agatha Christie.

Tuesday 14 – Saturday 18 February 2017
7.30pm
Antigone by Jean Anouilh, trans. by Lewis Galantiere
£13.50 (Conc. £11)

This re-imagining of Sophocles’ Greek tragedy is a heartfelt rebel-yell of defiance, exposing the emptiness and inhumanity of totalitarian regimes. The eponymous heroine becomes a living, vibrant, and enduring metaphor for the struggle against fascism. We are proud to give a rare outing to this thoughtful exploration of how to maintain integrity in a world of moral compromise.
