Following last week’s brilliant production of Boogie Nights, the Whitley Bay Operatic Society will be returning to the Playhouse in April with the North East premier of the brilliant feel good show, Sunshine on Leith, featuring the songs of The Proclaimers!

Created by Dundee Rep Theatre, Scotland’s leading production theatre, Sunshine On Leith  follows the highs and lows of Ally and his friend Davy as they return home to Leith from the army. Highlighting the struggles many soldiers face re-adjusting into Civvy Street after serving their country in various conflicts.

Families, friendships and life are not all plain sailing in this funny and moving story about love and life. Sunshine On Leith is a vibrant, energetic piece of musical theatre, loved by audiences and critics alike.

Writer Stephen Greenhorn is a hugely successful playwright and screenwriter whose many credits include Dr Who, River City & Passing Places.

The Proclaimers have had huge success across the globe with hits such as I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles), I’m on My Way and Letter From America.
