Saturday 11th November 2017

Tyne Theatre and Opera House are very excited to welcome journalist and best-selling author Jon Ronson to the stage on Saturday 11th November for the fascinating Psychopath Night.

In Psychopath Night, Jon Ronson will recount the adventure of a lifetime - the funny, terrifying and utterly compelling events that led to his bestselling book The Psychopath Test.

Is it true that psychopaths rule the world? Or have we gone labelling-crazy?

The show also features very special guests Mary Turner Thomson and Eleanor Longden. Neither Mary nor Eleanor appear in Jon’s book, but it wouldn’t exist without them. We're being oblique because we don’t want to spoil the extraordinary twists and turns in their stories. If you don’t know who they are, don’t Google them. The less you know the better…

Jon Ronson is the writer of International best-selling books such as Them, The Men Who Stare at Goats, The Psychopath Test and, his latest book, So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed.

Recently Announced…

Jon Ronson’s Psychopath Night joins a host of other recently announced shows for 2017, a very special year for Tyne Theatre & Opera House as it celebrates its 150th Anniversary Year.

Recently announced shows include comedian Russell Kane with his new show Right Man, Wrong Age, time traveling magic duo Morgan & West with their jaw-dropping Parlour Tricks, comedy hypnotist Robert Temple with his cutting-edge live show, and The All-Star Stand up Tour featuring Stewart Francis, Justin Moorhouse and more.

The theatre is also thrilled to welcome the National Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company with three Gilbert & Sullivan classics in September, and Professor Alice Roberts with TAME in October – a fascinating talk about how we have domesticated wild species.

Theatre Director Joanne Johnson says: “Jon Ronson’s Psychopath Night will no doubt be a fascinating experience and we can’t wait to welcome such a highly acclaimed writer to the theatre. Our programme for 2017 continues to fill up with a wonderful variety of shows – there really is something for everyone. With 2017 being such a special year as we celebrate our 150th Anniversary, I am thrilled that we can continue to programme in so many fantastic events and keep our beautiful theatre alive.”
