News: Tyne Theatre invite people to share memories of Stoll Picture Theatre

Tyne Theatre & Opera House invite people to share memories of Stoll Picture Theatre

This year Tyne Theatre & Opera House is celebrating its 150th Anniversary. In recognition of the 50+ years that the theatre operated as the Stoll Picture Theatre (1919-1974) we are holding a three day film festival in partnership with the Whitley Bay Film Festival. The Cinema Years film festival will run from Friday 11thSunday 13th August 2017.

The theatre is very keen to capture memories of the Stoll and we have set up an oral history project in association with Newcastle University.

We are therefore inviting people with memories of the Stoll to come and talk to us. The informal interviews will last no longer than half an hour and will be filmed to keep a permanent record of your stories. The films will be available for viewing at the Tyne Theatre and Opera House as part of our archive.

For those who wish to share their stories and be part of the theatre’s fascinating heritage, interviews will take place on Thursday 6th July and 20th July, between 10am – 1pm and 2pm - 7pm.

If you would like to take part and share your memories please contact by email: tynetheatreproductions@gmail.com or call 0191 243 1171/0191 243 117
